Reasons to Have a Chimney Inspection

Chimney inspections are necessary every few years, even if you don't have any apparent problems. Inspections come in three different levels depending on your needs and vary from a basic visual review to a comprehensive evaluation of your entire chimney system.

Chimney inspections ensure your chimney is fully functional and is not in need of repairs. Our technicians look for cracks, build-up of flammable creosote deposits, broken flues, and more.

Chimney Inspection Levels

  • CHIMNEY INSPECTION LEVEL I

This basic chimney inspection has a trained technician give your system a visual inspection. We check the firebox, flues, crown, and the exterior for obstructions, cracks, and other obvious flaws.

  • CHIMNEY INSPECTION LEVEL II

Level II inspections take things a step further. They are recommended before switching your fuel type, performing repairs, or doing any other work to the chimney. This type of inspection provides a more detailed assessment and looks explicitly for interior or exterior damage. The attic, crawlspace, or other areas around the chimney are also inspected. A camera may also be used for a detailed look.

  • CHIMNEY INSPECTION LEVEL III

Level III inspections give you a thorough, top-down inspection of all aspects of the chimney. The interior and exterior are reviewed in detail, including parts that may not usually be accessible inside your home. In some cases, parts of the chimney are removed to ensure complete inspection coverage by our technicians.

These inspections are typically only needed if a Level I or II inspection shows existing issues and are used to gain a complete understanding of the chimney's state.
